Recon Clerk - Automotive Dealership - Pinetown
Job Overview
A busy automotive dealership in Pinetown is currently looking for an experienced Recon Clerk with a strong technical understanding of motor vehicles.
The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting incoming vehicles, identifying any faults or repairs required, and coordinating the vehicle-reconditioning process. The Recon Clerk must ensure that vehicles are sent to the appropriate service providers and that all required repairs are completed correctly and within the required time frame.
Key Responsibilities
• Inspect incoming vehicles and identify faults, damages and repairs required.
• Determine the appropriate repairs or reconditioning work needed.
• Send vehicles to the relevant workshops or service providers.
• Obtain quotations and assist with monitoring repair costs.
• Coordinate and follow up on all vehicle repairs and reconditioning work.
• Ensure that vehicles are completed according to dealership standards.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, quotations, costs and progress.
• Liaise with internal departments, workshops and external service providers.
• Report any delays, concerns or additional repairs required.
• Ensure that vehicles are ready within the required time frame.
Minimum Requirements
• Previous experience as a Recon Clerk or in a similar automotive position would be advantageous.
• A technical background or strong technical knowledge of motor vehicles is highly advantageous.
• Must be able to identify mechanical, electrical, bodywork and general vehicle-related problems.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to coordinate multiple vehicles and repairs simultaneously.
• Good communication and follow-up skills.
• Previous automotive dealership experience would be advantageous.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: R13,000 – R18,000 per month, negotiable
