Automotive Service Manager – Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal
Job Overview
A well-established franchised motor dealership in Umhlanga is seeking an experienced and results-driven Service Manager to lead its service department.
The ideal candidate will have strong workshop management experience, excellent leadership abilities and a proven record of maintaining customer satisfaction, productivity and departmental profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the dealership's service department and workshop.
Lead, manage, motivate and develop Service Advisors, Technicians and workshop staff.
Ensure workshop productivity, efficiency and profitability targets are consistently achieved.
Monitor departmental performance, labour sales, gross profit, expenses and operational KPIs.
Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction (CSI) and resolve customer complaints professionally.
Ensure all vehicle servicing, repairs and maintenance meet manufacturer standards and quality requirements.
Manage workshop scheduling, job allocation, turnaround times and workflow efficiency.
Monitor warranty claims, service plans and manufacturer compliance requirements.
Identify opportunities to increase service revenue, customer retention and departmental profitability.
Conduct regular staff performance reviews, training and development.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and dealership policies.
Prepare and present monthly departmental performance reports to senior management.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum 4–5 years' experience as a Service Manager.
Previous Service Manager experience within a franchised motor dealership is essential.
Strong technical understanding of workshop operations.
Proven leadership and staff management abilities.
Good financial, operational and customer service skills.
Ability to achieve departmental targets.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary & Benefits
Basic salary: R25,000–R35,000 per month, negotiable.
